Hi Ken,    

It is easy with pieces already included in Windows:

1)get whatever it is you want to make a picture of on the screen

2)Press the [Print Scrn] key once

3)Start Paint (in START/Programs/Accessories/Paint

4)Click on edit then on paste on the Paint menu bar

5)The picture of the screen now appears in Paint. Click on the select tool, represented by a box icon next to the star icon .

6)Place a box around the items you wish to select then Click on edit then on copy on the Paint menu bar

7)you can then paste the image into an email or other document.

Alternatively, instead of 6 and 7 , you may choose "copy to" on the edit menu and save just the selection as a bitmap.
